BHP Billiton Case Study

In May 2009, RMS was awarded the tender to manage and deliver BHP ADP’s acclaimed PINGKU Indigenous Traineeship. The PINGKU traineeship is funded by BHP ADP in support of contractors executing works on the various Rapid Growth Projects.

The program offers candidates based in both Port Hedland and Perth the opportunity to partake in a Certificate II level traineeship with qualification outcomes in civil construction, warehousing, metalliferous mining, business administration and engineering.

As part of the program, RMS provides on-site supervision and mentoring, dedicated project light vehicles, a dedicated project management team, and recruitment, training and community liaison services.

RMS is delivering significant benefits by being able to provide recruitment services, GTO services and RTO services without the need for third parties.

Since May 2009, RMS has helped PINGKU to achieve new milestones such as:

  • Previously unmatched retention rates
  • Significant buy-in from RGP5 contractors
  • An order book for over 100+ trainees
  • Improved communication and reporting processes
