TRAINING COURSES



This intensive 5-day course is designed to give participants a realistic insight into the role of Driller's Offsider and prepare them for the employment process

 


This course has been developled with significant industry input and provides the foundational knowledge and skills required for participants to take on roles as Driller's Offsiders. The mining industry offers good career opportunities for Driller's Offsiders, also referred to as Driller Assistants, with promotion to Driller a logical career progression.

The course covers off on the following topics:

  • Introduction to the mining and drilling industries
  • Drilling methods
  • Safety and health issues in the drilling industry
  • Communication
  • Preparing for drilling activities
  • Setting up and dismantling ancillary equipment
  • Sampling and dill patterns
  • Packing up the drill site
  • Personal health management
  • Getting a job in the drilling industry

The course also includes a 1-day, nationally accredited 4WD course.

Upon successful completion of the course, participant resumes will be made available to RMS clients to assist in job placement.



Certifice of completion (Driller's Offsider Course)

RIIVEH201A Operate light vehicle or RIIVEH305A Operate and maintain a four wheel drive vehicle



Current MARCSTA qualification

Good verbal and written comprehension of the English language
